Kazakhstan

  • Zhambyl Kukeyev 68'
  • 93'

Ful,l time and late goals gave the result a bit of gloss but it was far from easy. Anyway, the points are in the bag. Join us for coverage of England's game with Belarus on Wednesday. Until then.

  • 92'

SWP wastes a great chance to make it six. He tries to shoot instead of give it to Heskey. Then Heskey gets a good header on target from a Becks cross and the keeps saves well.

  • 91'

First time England have hit five since that 5-1 win in Munich seven years ago.

  • 90'

Heskey touches on, Defoe is clean through and makes no mistake. A lovely flick from Heskey and a cool finish.

  • 90'

    GOAL! Defoe!

  • 89'

Gerrard has a last attempt to get his name on the scoresheet with a shot from 20 yards but drags it wide.

  • 87'

Well, what happened there?! Becks crosses, Heskey can't get hold of it, it trickles toward the line before the keeper pushes it clear and behind for a corner. Nearly number five!

  • 87'

No sooner has Rooney scored than he's taken off. Defoe is on.

  • 86'

Becks swings in a cross, Kazakhstan can't clear and ooney turns home the loose ball. Nice.

  • 86'

    GOAL! Rooney!

  • 85'

    Sabalakov is on for Kirov.

  • 83'

Geerard crosses to the far post and Heskey goes for goal when he should have nodded across goal for Rooney. Poor.

  • 81'

Cole is now getting a mixture of boos and cheers too, bizarrely.

  • 80'

Huge cheers when Beckham touches the ball.

  • 78'

Theo Walcott off, David Beckham on. He moves into third place in the all-time caps list, just two behind Bobby Moore.

  • 77'

Looks like Becks is coming on.

  • 76'

Walcott turns it back for Brown, he crosses and ROoney directs his glancing header into the net. Good goal.

  • 76'

    Rooney! Goal!

  • 75'

Heskey gives the ball away then retrieves it. Another debutant for Kazakhstan, Maltsev is on for Ostapenko.

  • 75'

Rooney, SWP and Gerrard combine but Kuchma does well to get in the way. Cole is now getting booed every time he touches the ball. I love the English public.

  • 74'

Looks like some Kazakh subs are coming on.

  • 72'

Gerrard takes the free-kick, Heskey glances a header towards goal but it flashes two yards wide.

  • 70'

Lampard has another punt but Mokin catches the ball after a flick off Kuchma.

  • 69'

Well that was astonishing. Ashley Cole has dropped a huge rick there. A perfect through ball for Kukeyev and he shoots past David James.

  • 68'

Kukeyev profits from an awful stray pass from Ashley Cole, and fires past David James. Great finish. Wembley is stunned.

  • 68'

    GOAL! Kazakhstan pull one back!

  • 66'

Rooney wins another free-kick. Promising, seeing as both goals have come from set pieces.

  • 64'

Lampard swung in the free-kick, Rooney went up but it flicked off Kuchma and past the keeper. Phew.

  • 64'

GOAL! Rooney, or possibly and own goal!

  • 62'

Cole was held, free-kick on the left flank for England.

  • 62'

Nuserbayev runs at England again and gets past Ferdinand and Brown before he runs the ball out of play. Another nice turn of pace from the youngster.

  • 61'

Right, half an hour to get at least two more goals or England will get slaughtered.

  • 60'

More danger for England as Kukeyev runs at Lampard. They've looked half decent on the break have Kazakhstan. Nuserbayev looks a handy player.

  • 58'

Gerrard's ball is misjudged by Kislitsyn but Cole can't square for SWP to tap in. Corner. Wasted. Boo.

  • 57'

Heskey hoofs one out of play. Thanks Emile.

  • 56'

What a run from Kekeyev, he breezes past Walcott, then Lampard but just runs out of puff at the final hurdle.

  • 54'

Then Kazakhstan threaten from the corner! My word England have been ropey at the back. James tried to catch that Nuserbayev shot, it spilled through his hands and only just squirmed wide. Pathetic.

  • 53'

Oooh Nuserbayev hits back with a decent effort and David James has nearly thrown it in his own net! What was he doing?!

  • 52'

The keeper, Mokin, has made a hash of it, ran into traffic and Rio nodded into an empty net. Very simple.

  • 52'

    GOAL! Ferdinand!

  • 51'

SWP has a pop, as he is liable to do, and wins a corner.

  • 50'

Baltiyev hits it but the wall does its job. Just as well, because that was never a free-kick in a million years.

  • 49'

Nuserbayev again makes a nuisance of himself, squeezing between England's two centre-halves. Rio gets the ball but the ref gives a free kick. Awful decision.

  • 48'

Well I never! That was almost hilarious! A lovely move, and cracking cross from Ibrayev, but Nuserbayev has just dropped the Ashes. The best chance of the game BY A MILE!!

  • 47'

So, Fabio goes gung-ho, removing his holding midfielder in favour of another flying winger. Ooh! What a chance for Kazakhstan! Ibrayev gets to the byline and Nuserbayev has fluffed a header, six yards out, with the goal gaping! Amazing!

  • 46'

We're off again, and Gareth Barry has made way for Shaun Wright-Phillips...

  • 45'

Half time. Boos. Same old story. See you in 15 minutes....

  • 45'

ROoney drags a shot wide when there were plenty better options about. A poor half from England this. Boos coming as soon as the whistle is blown.

  • 44'

Nope, just not happening at the minute. Lampard again at fault.

  • 43'

Barry wiggles out of trouble, as our commentator puts it. Nice.

  • 41'

Gerrard bursts towards the box and offloads to Lampard but he can't spread it wide for Walcott and Kazakhstan breathe again. Its got to come soon, surely.

  • 40'

Another neat looking move ends with a disappointing ball from Lamps. Cole can't get there.

  • 39'

Another corner comes to nowt, in fact the keeper's intended punch on the ball connected squarely with Heskey's bonce. Ouch.

  • 38'

Despite the band still playing, Wembley is becoming increasingly quiet. They want a goal, and quick.

  • 36'

Another nice touch from Heskey but Lampard is flagged offside. Wrongly so, as the replay shows.

  • 35'

Wngland pull away on the break and have a nice overlap but sadly Walcott's lay-off lets him down.

  • 34'

Kuchma whacks in the free-kick but Ashley Cole miscontrols the rebound and for a second England look short. Upson boots away Baltiyev's cross though.

  • 33'

Rooney does look a bit Travis Bickle with his slaphead hair cut. Truly menacing. Stevie G gives away a free kick after chopping down Nuserbayev.

  • 32'

An awful cross from Lampard. Over everyone's head. Capello looks disgusted.

  • 30'

A decent spell of possession from Kazakhstan is eventually broken up by Ashley Cole. They look like they are growing a bit in the last ten minutes.

  • 27'

Lamps has a punt from 30 yards and it flashes marginally wide.

  • 26'

A poor ball into the box from Rooney is complimented by a very loose ball from Barry. I give it five more minutes before the boos begin....

  • 25'

Gerrard wins a corner, then swings it in. Again Upson wins it but his header drifts wide this time. He's getting closer.

  • 24'

Gerrard wastes another good chunk of possession. He doesn't look happy in his floaty, right-sided role.

  • 23'

Upson gets up to meet the cross bu Kuchma gets in the way. They certainly aren't shy of getting their body in the way of goalbound efforts these lads.

  • 21'

    Walcott wins another corner.

  • 20'

Nice interchange between ROoney and Lampard this time. The latter's effort on goal is deflected behind for a corner. Which comes to nowt.

  • 19'

The pitch looks pretty poor. Not sure why, we're having an Indian summer here this past week. It looks waterlogged.

  • 17'

Walcott swerves past two again - he's having a cracking game - but delays his cross and ball runs out of play. A promising start from the saviour of English football.

  • 15'

Great run from Theo Walcott, he cuts inside and floats a lovely left-footed effort just over the angle of post and bar.

  • 14'

More neat interplay in front of the visitors back four but that final ball is lacking just at the minute.

  • 12'

Oh dear, Matthew Upson had has a mare. Nuserbayev troubles Upson who slides a ridiculous ball back to his keeper from four yards away with a striker right up his backside. James hacks clear - just - then unleashes a verbal volley at the West Ham centre-back. RIghtly so.

  • 11'

Smashing ball into the area from Rooney, Lampard takes it on the swivel and has a pop but Kuchma does well to block.

  • 10'

Nuserbayev, the flying 21-year-old, works a shooting chance and drags it narrowly wide just ten minutes into his international debut. Good lad.

  • 9'

Walcott is hacked down again, this time by Kirov. Another chance to deliver a wicked ball into the mixer. Gerrard swings it in for Upson but his header flies over the bar.

  • 7'

Logvinenko nods away Gerrard's free-kick and the Kazakh's regroup.

  • 6'

A lovely combination between Rooney and Walcott sees Kazakh skipper Baltiyev clip the winger's heels cynically. Free-kick.

  • 5'

Snapshot from Rooney but it flies over the bar.

  • 4'

The first glimpse from Walcott, who charges past Kirov and crosses for Heskey. He can't get a finishing touch, then gives away a foul as he wrestled on the floor with Kuchma.

  • 3'

Apparently, only four of Kazakhstan's side played in last month's qualifiers. Oh dear.

  • 2'

Right, courtesy of FIFA.com here is the Kazakhstan line-up. Mokin, Kirov, Kuchma, Kislitsyn, Nuserbayev, Skorykh, Ostapenko, Baltiyev, Logvinenko, Ibrayev and Kukeyev. There.

  • 1'

    We begin....

  •

Kazakhstan coach Bernd Storck has dumped out a lot of the country's long standing players in favour of youth, youth, youth. They certainly look pretty raw as they belt out their national anthem. None of our esteemed news outlets seems to want to tell me what their names are though. I'll keep you posted.

  •

This is one of those games where England are on a hiding to nothing. Win by three or four and people will say that's what was supposed to happen, fail to thrash them - or to open the scoring before too long - and a chrous of boos will ring down from the stands. Ooooh, tough crowd.

  •

Without furtherr ado here is the England side: James, Brown, A Cole, Ferdinand, Upson, Gerrard, Lampard, Barry, Walcott, Heskey and Rooney. Subs from: Carson, G Johnson, Bridge, Beckham, Wright-Phillips, Defoe and Crouch.

  •

Walcott's hat-trick has thrust him into the limelight only prviously seen for the likes of Beckham, Owen and Rooney. How will the 19-year-old cope with his first start at Wembley with 90,000 people expecting a repeat performance against a far inferior side?

  •

So, for once a healthy mood prevails about the state of our nation's football team. After last month's battering of Croatia in Zagreb all is rosy in the garden again. Also, the country has a new superstar in the shape of Theo Walcott.

  •

Join us at 1715 BST to see if England can give Kazakhstan the pummelling their fans demand.
