Barcelona, Sevilla Super Cup ticket sales cause riot in Tbilisi, Georgia

TBILISI, Georgia -- Three people have been hospitalised and dozens needed medical treatment after fans rushed to buy tickets for the UEFA Super Cup match between Barcelona and Sevilla in the the ex-Soviet nation of Georgia.

A large crowd of fans descended on kiosks in the capital Tbilisi as tickets went on sale Sunday for the Aug. 11 game. Hundreds of would-be ticket buyers tried to break through a line of police before special forces personnel wielding riot shields and batons restored order.

The conditions of those hospitalised were not immediately clear. Many others were treated by ambulance crews on site.

Around 22,000 tickets have been earmarked for sale by the Georgian Football Federation. Some of the allocation was made available online but sales were disrupted by hackers.
