Ronaldo, Bale click ominously into gear

ESPN FC's Paul Mariner reacts to Cristiano Ronaldo's comments and discusses the growth of Gareth Bale following Madrid's win over Sevilla in the UEFA Super Cup.

CARDIFF, Wales -- In the Cardiff City Stadium's postmatch media area, Cristiano Ronaldo conducted proceedings as he had done on the pitch -- with directness and brutal economy. He insisted on stopping for journalists as his press handler attempted to usher him onto the waiting team bus -- "it's for the English," he said -- and exactly two-and-a-half minutes of to-the-point answers later, he swiftly said his farewells and was gone.

Sevilla move on without Moreno

Alberto Moreno was removed from the Sevilla squad after a deal was agreed with Liverpool before the UEFA Super Cup.

CARDIFF, Wales -- Unai Emery insisted that Sevilla can cope with the impending departure of left-back Alberto Moreno, after watching his side fall to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.

Sevilla won the Europa League three months ago but having already lost two key players in Ivan Rakitic and Stephane Mbia, who respectively moved to Barcelona and returned to QPR after a loan spell, they are also set to wave goodbye to Moreno.
