ESPN to televise Euro 2020, other international UEFA events until 2022

ESPN will again broadcast the European Championship in the U.S. after Portugal's triumph this summer.

ESPN will televise the European Championship in 2020 for the fourth straight time.

The network said on Monday it had acquired United States English-language broadcast rights to the tournament, which will be played in 13 nations.

"The UEFA European Football Championship is one of the marquee events in international football and as fans in the U.S. continue to follow the sport overseas, the interest in this tournament will only get stronger," ESPN senior vice president Scott Guglielmino said in a statement.

ESPN also obtained rights to all national team matches in UEFA competitions from 2018-22, including qualifiers for Euro 2020 and the 2022 World Cup, as well as the new UEFA Nations League from 2018-21.

"We are pleased to continue our relationship with UEFA and our commitment to presenting world-class global football events on our networks and across our media platforms," Guglielmino said.

Information from The Associated Press was used in this report.
