Feyenoord top Dutch league ahead of Man United Europa League clash

Feyenoord maintained their two-point lead at the top of Eredivisie as they claimed a 3-0 win over PEC Zwolle at De Kuip ahead of their Europa League clash with Manchester United on Thursday.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst's side were temporarily leapfrogged by Ajax early in the day after their 5-0 win over NEC Nijmegen but responded as Dirk Kuyt nodded home Jens Toornstra's cross to give Feyenoord the lead after 38 minutes.

Long-range strikes from Karim El Ahmadi and Toornstra in the second-half capped off an impressive performance.

Kasper Dolberg's first senior hat trick saw Ajax keep the pressure on with a thumping victory at the Amsterdam ArenA.

Ajax, who are now unbeaten in their last ten league games, went ahead after 19 minutes when Dolberg smashed his shot past Nijmegen goalkeeper Joris Delle. The 19-year-old doubled Ajax's advantage five minutes later when Davy Klaassen picked out the Danish striker to slot home.

Peter Bosz's men continued to dominate proceedings and scored a third before the end of the first-half as Dolberg headed in Daley Sinkgraven's cross -- taking his league tally to eight goals for the season.

On-loan Chelsea forward Bertrand Traore added a fourth after the break before Lasse Schoene rifled home a 25-yard strike to seal an emphatic victory.
