Midtjylland striker Paul Onuachu 'expected more' from Man United

Midtjylland striker Paul Onuachu says he "expected more" from Manchester United, following his team's 2-1 Europa League win vs. the Red Devils.

Onuachu, 21, scored the winner for the Danish champions in the 77th minute after coming on as a substitute on the hour mark.

Memphis Depay's close-range finish had put United in front in the 37th minute, but Pione Sisto equalised seven minutes later to set up Onuachu's late heroics.

After the win, Onuachu admitted that his side perhaps caught their Premier League opponents off guard.

"I think I expected more from them but we gave them what they didn't expect," he told BT Sport. "We gave our best and got the result."

Midtjylland, who hadn't played a competitive match since Dec. 10 with the Danish top flight on break, also knocked Southampton out of the Europa League, beating Ronald Koeman's team 2-1 on aggregate in a two-legged playoff.

Onuachu and his Danish teammates will travel to Manchester next week for the Feb. 25 return leg with a spot in the Europa League last-16 on the line.

"I'm looking forward to the return leg, hopefully we're going to get something," Onuachu said.

"We've come out as the Danish champions, we beat Southampton and we'll give it our best against United.

"Hopefully we will [win], we just have to be positive. It won't be easy but we'll give our best."
