Legia Warsaw awarded victory over Kukesi after abandoned Europa game

Legia Warsaw have been awarded a 3-0 win by UEFA in the first leg of their Europa League qualifier against FK Kukesi.

The match, played in Albania last Thursday, was abandoned after 51 minutes when Legia's Ondrej Duda was hit by a stone thrown from the crowd as his team celebrated taking a 2-1 lead.

Both teams were charged over the behaviour of supporters and the match has now been forfeited by Kukesi.

The second leg of the third qualifying round tie will go ahead as scheduled in Warsaw this Thursday.

The verdict from UEFA's Control, Ethics and Disciplinary body also sees Kukesi fined €70,000 (£49,000) and ordered to play their next home game in UEFA competition behind closed doors.

A sanction of a second behind-closed-doors match was suspended for two years.

A statement on the official UEFA website said: "The UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body has decided to declare the match FK Kukesi against Legia Warszawa as forfeited.

"As a consequence, FK Kukesi is deemed to have lost the first leg 3-0."
