Dynamo Kiev hit with stadium closure for Europa League clash vs. Everton

UEFA has ordered Dynamo Kiev to close part of its stadium for their Europa League last-16 second leg against Everton on March 19.

Section 21 of the Olympic Stadium in the Ukrainian capital is to be shut for the match as punishment for ugly crowd disturbances that took place during Dynamo's clash against Guingamp in the previous round of the competition on Feb. 26.

Dynamo's 3-1 home win had to be halted for 15 minutes after fighting broke out in the crowd, while fireworks were set off during the game and supporters entered the pitch shortly after the brawl began.

UEFA also said that health and safety rules were breached as stairways were blocked during the match.

As well as the part-closure of the Olympic Stadium, European football's governing body has also fined the Ukrainian club 70,000 euros.

Everton said in an official statement that club officials have been in discussions with their Dynamo counterparts over ticket allocations for the March 19 clash, while they hope to make an announcement on the matter soon.
