The damage was done in a seven-minute spell either side of the break in Iceland, with Mauro Icardi putting them ahead in the 41st minute.

Dodo then added a second in the 48th minute, with Danilo D'Ambrosio putting away an injury-time third, placing Inter in complete control ahead of the second leg in Italy next week.

Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk came from behind to beat Hajduk Split 2-1 in Kiev.

Tino-Sven Susic put the Croatian side ahead against the run of play just after the break, but Dnipro hit back through former Hajduk striker Nikola Kalinic and substitute Yevhen Shakhov scored an 88th-minute winner to give his side a narrow lead going into the second leg.
