UEFA bans two Turkish clubs from Europa Lge

NYON, Switzerland -- UEFA has barred Turkish clubs Sivasspor and Eskisehirspor from next season's Europa League for involvement in a domestic match-fixing scandal.

Both clubs were implicated in deliberately losing to eventual champion Fenerbahce late in the 2010-11 season.

UEFA rules demand clubs are disqualified from the Champions League or Europa League if match-fixing is proven since April 2007, when tougher rules on corruption were introduced.

UEFA says the clubs can appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Sivasspor finished fifth in this season's Turkish league and would have entered the Europa League third qualifying round.

Turkish Cup runner-up Eskisehirspor would have entered the second qualifying round.

Karabukspor and Bursaspor, respectively, should get the Europa League entries.

Fenerbahce won the league but will complete a two-year expulsion from the Champions League.
