UEFA charges Ajax, Tottenham for crowd incidents during Champions League

UEFA has opened disciplinary proceedings against Ajax and Tottenham for incidents involving fans during their Champions League quarterfinal matches this week.

Ajax have been charged for fans throwing objects, for crowd disturbances and blocked stairways during their 1-1 first-leg draw against Juventus in Amsterdam on Wednesday.

A fan got close to Cristiano Ronaldo on the field as the Juventus star celebrated his 45th-minute goal to open the scoring.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been charged for a field invasion by a supporter during Spurs' 1-0 victory over Manchester City in their new Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday.

UEFA has imposed fines of €5,000 ($5,600) this season on clubs for a first offence of pitch invasion.

According to UEFA, each case will be dealt with by the UEFA Control, Ethics and Disciplinary Body on 16 May.
