Champions League draw: When is the draw for the first knockout round?

The draw for the first knockout round of the 2016-17 Champions League will be made at 11 a.m. GMT / 6 a.m. ET on Monday, Dec. 12.

The 16 teams that finished first and second in the group stage will be drawn into eight ties. 

Group winners will play group runners up. The group winners will be at home in the second leg. 

Group winners: Arsenal, AS Monaco, Atletico Madrid, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund, Juventus, Leicester City, Napoli

Runners-up: Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern Munich, Benfica, Real Madrid, FC Porto, Sevilla, Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain

Teams from the same country cannot draw each other, nor can teams who played each other in the group stage.

The first legs will take place on Feb. 14, 15, 21 and 22.

The second legs will take place on March 7, 8, 14 and 15.

The draw for the quarterfinals will then be made on Friday, March 16.
