Monaco's Radamel Falcao on UCL brace: You never forget how to play

Monaco's Radamel Falcao reminded everyone he had "never forgotten" how to play football after scoring his first Champions League goals since 2010.

Falcao, 30, struck two of his team's three first-half goals as the Ligue 1 side disposed of CSKA Moscow 3-0 on Wednesday.

He had not found the net in European club football's premier competition proper since February 2010 while he was still at Porto.

However, having overcome a serious knee ligament injury, unsuccessful loan spells at Manchester United and Chelsea, as well as a thigh problem and concussion this term, he told ESPN Deportes that he never doubted he would make a successful return.

"You never forget how to play football. You can have injuries, but playing football is something that you have in your heart and in your blood," he said after the win to keep his side top of Group E.

"I'm very happy to be able to play in this competition with Monaco. The team was solid. It has grown, and we showed this evening that we can be clinical on the pitch.

"Monaco played total football, and played really well when we had the ball."

With Falcao still short of full match fitness following his injury problems this term, he was brought off with 16 minutes remaining at the Stade Louis II.

The Colombian received a warm accolade from coach Leonardo Jardim as he left the pitch.

The Monaco boss, 42, told reporters he was delighted with the striker's display.

"The important thing is that myself and the club believe in him, that he believes in himself," Jardim, who had made Falcao captain for the night, said.

"He had a great match for 45 minutes, an hour. He scored twice, linked up well. That's Falcao.

"Now, he needs to get back his rhythm and play matches to get back to his true level."

Falcao has now scored 91 career goals across all UEFA European competitions, surpassing all other players in history.
