Fernando Torres: Atletico Madrid UCL win would eclipse Chelsea triumph

Fernando Torres has said winning the Champions League with Chelsea in 2012 could not compare to repeating the feat with Atletico Madrid because he felt "lost" at the Blues.

Torres and his boyhood club Atletico take on Real Madrid in Saturday's final at the San Siro in Milan.

The 32-year-old Spaniard has found a new lease of life under coach Diego Simeone, having been written off by many when he left Stamford Bridge in 2015 after four frustrating years.

Torres enjoyed his share of decisive moments during Chelsea's Champions League run, scoring to eliminate Barcelona at the Camp Nou in the semifinals and winning the corner that led to Didier Drogba's late equaliser against Bayern Munich in the final.

But the Daily Mail quoted him as saying: "Nothing would beat winning the Champions League with Atletico.

"I won it with Chelsea, but I was not in a good place. I did not feel I was being treated well at the time -- I felt lost.

"I don't want to talk about those moments. My career is going so well, and I feel so at home and full of confidence, that I do not want to relive those days.

"I have never been happier. I love being back [at Atletico], and hope I can stay. I am one of the senior players now and give advice where I can, but I am also learning from the younger players. You can feed off their energy."

Reaching a second Champions League final in three years has cemented Simeone's reputation as one of the world's most gifted managers, and Torres said: "We all play for each other -- the coach has built a mentality where we would all die for each other out there.

"Simeone has built something special here. We are no longer in awe of where Real Madrid and Barcelona are at . We are at the same level as them, and so much of that is down to Simeone.

"I am sure some of the biggest club's in England would be interested in him, but he is happy here."
