Sevilla take place in second pot for Champions League group draw

The pots for next season's Champions League group stage draw are taking shape after Sevilla booked their place with victory in Wednesday's Europa League final.

Sevilla, who go direct to the group stage because this season's Champions League winners -- Atletico Madrid or Real Madrid -- will have qualified via their domestic league, will be in Pot 2 -- that will also contain Borussia Dortmund, Arsenal, Napoli and Bayer Leverkusen, plus Manchester City and FC Porto if those two sides come through qualifying.

The champions of Europe's top six leagues had already sealed their places in Pot 1, as surprise Premier League winners Leicester City join Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Benfica and Paris-Saint Germain among the seeds.

The remaining two places in the top pot will be taken by either Atletico or Real Madrid as holders, with the final on May 28, plus the champions of Russia, which will be known on Saturday between CSKA Moscow and FC Rostov.

Whoever loses between the Madrid teams will be in Pot 2, but the runners-up in Russia will have it much tougher as they will have to go through the qualifying rounds and face being in pot 4 for the group stage draw.

Tottenham are very likely to be in Pot 3, but could yet move up to Pot 2 if all three higher ranked teams in the qualifying rounds fail to make it to the groups. There are going to be some strong teams in Pot 4 with Borussia Monchengladbach, AS Roma and Monaco featured.
