Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo returns to training ahead of Man City

Cristiano Ronaldo returned to training on Sunday following a thigh injury as he bids to prove his fitness for Real Madrid's Champions League semifinal second leg against Manchester City on Wednesday.

Ronaldo limped off the field in the closing stages of the Spanish giants' 3-0 win over Villarreal on April 20 and has been absent for the following three matches, including the goalless draw against City last week.

But Real announced their captain had returned to training ahead of the return tie against Manuel Pellegrini's men at the Bernabeu.

The 31-year-old trained with his teammates for the first half of the session before working individually for the remainder.

Prior to his injury, Ronaldo had played every minute in this season's La Liga, scoring 31 times. He is the leading scorer in the Champions League this campaign with 16 goals from 10 appearances.
