Zidane: Real Madrid must be patient in search for comeback vs. Wolfsburg

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane has said his team need to show patience against Wolfsburg as they look to overturn a Champions League quarterfinal deficit.

Madrid lost 2-0 at the Volkswagen Arena in last week's first leg, but Zidane remains confident that they can reach the last four at the Bernabeu.

"The message is patience," he told his prematch news conference. "We have seen it in La Liga. We were 13 points behind Barcelona, and now it is four.

"Is this my first big match as a coach? No. We have had many matches. They are all important. Afterwards, yes I take note of the pressure, as always.

"But I am not at all worried about what we have to do ourselves.

"That doesn't worry me in the least because we are focused and determined, and that is what is most important.

"There are many messages that can be given during training. But to play this game we must use our heads, because this match is not going to be won in 10 or 15 minutes.

"It is very true that it can be complicated if they score a goal, but that can happen. What we have to do is remain focused from the first minute until the very end.

He said Madrid would match Wolfsburg's intensity and added: "Then it will be come down to who plays more football.

"We know that we can score goals, but we must be very careful. Playing well involves having equilibrium, defending well and not just scoring goals."

Zidane also revealed that Karim Benzema, who did not play in the win over Eibar at the weekend, was fully fit.

"He is totally recovered from his injury and there is nothing more. He is ready to play and very focused," he added.

But the coach refused to confirm whether Casemiro would line up against Bundesliga outfit Wolfsburg at the Bernabeu.

He added: "The team we shall see tomorrow, but he gives us balance. He gives us defensive play, especially when we have the ball. We must consider many things."
