Alessandro Florenzi goal was my fault, says Barcelona boss Luis Enrique

Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has refused to blame his goalkeeper for Alessandro Florenzi's sensational long-range strike in Barca's 1-1 Champions League draw with Roma on Wednesday.

The blaugrana seemed on the winning track following Luis Suarez's opener at the Stadio Olimpico, however Florenzi found the net from near the sideline, and close to the halfway line, with a 56-yard shot sailing over the head of stranded Barca keeper Marc-Andre Ter Stegen to level the score.

Florenzi's goal followed Ter Stegen's similar embarrassment against Athletic Bilbao in last month's Spanish Supercopa, but the Barca boss has insisted he would not be blaming the German for what had happened in Italy.

"[Florenzi] is a good player, but he has been very lucky," the Asturian coach said after the match. "He took a chance and scored a goal. Well-done to him -- but this is a problem we will have given the type of defence we play with.

"The goal is my fault -- we tell our keepers to play like that. But I'd bet nobody will score another one against us."

The goal aside, Ter Stegen had little to do over the 90 minutes, while at the other end Suarez had a loud penalty appeal turned down and Lionel Messi hit the crossbar late on.

Luis Enrique, who was Roma coach for one season in 2011-12, said his current team had deserved to win the game given the chances they created.

"When you reach these competitions, the physical level is important, and when the opponent closes up at the back it is difficult to make chances," he said. "That is a problem we have when teams sit back, that they can surprise us, but despite that I think our game was pretty clear -- and we deserved to win."
