Juventus need 'better than perfect' display against Barcelona - Tevez

Carlos Tevez says Juventus will need to be "better than perfect" to stand a chance of beating Barcelona in Saturday's Champions League final, although he does know what it takes to win European football's top club competition.

Tevez -- who has netted seven times in the Champions League this season after ending a five-year drought in the competition, stretching back beyond when he last appeared in the final against Barcelona -- lifted the trophy with Manchester United in 2008 and is bidding to win it for a second time with a different club this weekend.

"We had a very strong team, which included the likes of Wayne Rooney and Cristiano Ronaldo," Tevez said in an interview with UEFA.com.

"We reached the final twice and we won the first one, but lost the second against Barca. It was a side that had a lot of strong characters."

The same might be said of Tevez's current teammates, particularly in the tenacity shown in beating Monaco and Real Madrid to reach the Berlin final, where they will start out as underdogs, but not necessarily without a chance of springing a surprise.

"They are the best team in the world and we will face the best three strikers, so we will have to work extremely hard and our performance will need to be better than perfect," Tevez said.

"Having Gigi [Buffon] in goal gives us outfield players confidence. Scoring a goal against Gigi is difficult -- that is the extra bit of security he provides."

The rest has come from coach Massimiliano Allegri, who could end his first season on the Bianconeri bench with a historic Treble.

Allegri replaced Antonio Conte just weeks before the start of the season, and his arrival was hardly welcomed by the majority of the Juve fans, but he has won them over by clinching the Serie A title and Coppa Italia -- and Tevez says he deserves credit for getting the best out of him also.

"He allows me to play freely," the 31-year-old said. "To play the way I know how. That is why I have performed better this year compared to last season."

Allegri has got the best not just out of Tevez, according to current Spain coach Vicente Del Bosque.

He spoke of his admiration for this Juve side in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport in which he also suggests he would not take a Barca victory in Berlin for granted.

"Allegri has a real squad, a group of not only experienced, but also ambitious players," the former Real Madrid boss said. "They have people who have already won a lot, but do not settle for what they have got. They always want more.

"They are a particularly well organised side with great efficiency. I'm thinking of [Giorgio] Chiellini, [Patrice] Evra, [Andrea] Pirlo, [Claudio] Marchisio, Tevez -- all experienced players capable of dictating the game. They have a great defence and can hurt you in attack with Tevez and [Alvaro] Morata.

"Juve's league title victory was never up for discussion, but this lengthy dominance is not something which has just arrived by a fluke. You don't get anything for free in Italy.

"Juve fully deserved to get all the way to the final and the fact that both finalists are aiming to complete a Treble shows how big this match is between two sides who have different styles, but have in common that they are both big clubs."
