Arsenal are to receive £3 million as part of Thomas Vermaelen's transfer to Barcelona if the Liga club win the Champions League, according to newspaper reports. Vermaelen, 29, signed for Barcelona for £15 million last summer but injury problems have meant he has yet to make a single appearance for Luis Enrique's side. However, an agreement in the terms of his move to the Camp Nou means that should Barca lift the Champions League trophy against Juventus on June 6 then Arsenal will benefit financially. The Times reports the fee will be £2.75 million while The Telegraph and the Daily Mail both claim the Gunners will receive £3 million. Belgium international Vermaelen left Arsenal after five years at the club, having made 98 Premier League starts following his move from Ajax in 2009. Barca reached the final after a 5-3 aggregate win over Bayern Munich in the semifinals, while their opponents Juventus beat Real Madrid 3-2 on aggregate.
