Robert Lewandowski named in Bayern Munich team to face Barcelona

Robert Lewandowski will start for Bayern Munich in the first leg of the Champions League semifinal against Barcelona at the Camp Nou.

Lewandowski sustained a broken jaw and nose, as well as concussion, in a collision with Borussia Dortmund goalkeeper Mitch Langerak in their DFB Pokal tie a week ago, and there were fears he would not be able to face Barca.

Arjen Robben also suffered a calf muscle in that game that has ended his season, but Bayern's Poland international makes a swift return to action.

Speaking last week, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge hinted that Lewandowski would wear a special mask to protect his face to "ensure that he can play against Barcelona."

Medhi Benatia, only recently back from injury himself, gets the nod in defence ahead of Dante and Javi Martinez.

Barcelona line up as expected with the in-form forward three of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

Barcelona: Ter Stegen; Alves, Alba, Pique, Mascherano; Busquets, Iniesta, Rakitic; Suarez, Neymar, Messi.

Bayern Munich: Neuer, Rafinha, Benatia, Boateng, Bernat; Lahm, Alonso, Schweinsteiger; Thiago; Lewandowski, Muller.
