UEFA have fined Zenit St. Petersburg after their fans burned a German flag during a Champions League game against Borussia Dortmund.

Zenit St. Petersburg have been fined 15,000 euros by UEFA after their fans burned a German flag at a Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund.

UEFA said it charged Zenit over the "improper conduct of supporters" and the lighting of fireworks.

Russian fans were pictured burning a Dortmund fans' banner made from a black, red and gold Germany flag during Zenit's 2-1 win on March 19. Dortmund went through to the quarterfinals 5-4 on aggregate.

Earlier in the competition, UEFA had closed a section of Zenit's stadium for the first leg as punishment for fans displaying a racist banner during a group stages match against Austria Vienna.

Zenit, runners-up in the Russian league, enter next season's Champions League in the third qualifying round, meaning they must beat two opponents to reach the 32-team group stage.

Earlier this month, Zenit were given a two-game stadium ban for next season over an incident in which fans invaded the pitch, one of them attacking a Dynamo Moscow player.
