Mourinho: No unfinished business

Jose Mourinho expressed no regrets about his time in Spain, as he returns to the country for the first time since being sacked by Real Madrid last May.

Mourinho's Chelsea team take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League semifinal on Tuesday but the Portuguese feels he has no “unfinished business” despite never winning the European Cup with the Bernabeu outfit.

Talking at his prematch news conference, Mourinho refused to discuss a series of more recent controversies, or to speak in Spanish for the local press.

He said: “I have no unfinished business, I did my best, always do my best, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. Sometimes you win and you deserve, sometimes you win and you don’t deserve. Sometimes you lose when you deserve to lose, sometimes you lose and you don’t deserve to lose.

"With Chelsea in semis we lost on penalties, as Liverpool scored one more than us, in other semi we lost with goal which was not a goal, but that is part of football.”

Despite that, he still proclaimed himself a supporter of Real, adding: “I repeat that in Spain my team is Madrid, so I’m happy when they win competitions I am not involved in.”

Mourinho refused to discuss many issues, from Thibaut Courtois’ likely appearance for Atletico against his parent club to coach Rui Faria’s sending-off in the 2-1 loss against Sunderland. The Chelsea manager dismissed questions about the controversy.

He said: “My reaction is simple, it is that today, tomorrow and also Wednesday are Champions League days. So I will not speak about the Premier League. You have 19 teams in Premier League to think about, Chelsea are the one who is Champions League, and we are only available to talk about that. We always behave in relation to the situation.”

When asked about Courtois, he was equally unmoved, saying: “I think that UEFA's decision is better not to comment, we just accept it, or if we do not accept it, we do not make any point. So UEFA decide and I think management do not comment.”

The Chelsea boss also refused to offer any analysis of Atletico, adding: “I do not speak about players from other teams. I am not going to talk to out about Atletico qualities. I did that with players yesterday, today and tomorrow. It is with my players that I have to share that.

"But of course no team arrives in a CL semi final without being a very good team. There are no exceptions, so be here they must be very good team. A team we respect, we study, we analyse, but I am not here to speak with you about my vision or feelings about Atletico.”

Finally asked why his mood had changed, Mourinho said: "Nothing has changed, just the weather."
