Honved fined €50,000 for racism

UEFA has ordered Honved to play their next two Champions League or Europa League matches behind closed doors and fined them €50,000 for what it described as "racist behaviour and chanting" by fans at a Europa League match against Vojvodina in July.

The second of the matches is a punishment from 2008, which had been suspended for a five-year probationary period and was triggered by the incident. The bans will be served in the next season Honved -- who were knocked out by after Vojvodina -- play in European competition.

European football’s governing body also ordered Lech Poznan and Piast Gliwice to close the sections of their ground housing ‘ultras’ at their next Europa League game after racist chanting marred their previous ties.

Both Polish clubs were charged over "racist behaviour and display of a racist banner" by their fans and were fined €5,000. The incidents happened when Piast hosted Qarabag, of Azerbaijan, in July, and Lech played Lithuanian club Zalgiris in August. Reports said Qarabag player Ulrich Kapolongo had been the target of monkey chants.

A second offence by supporters of either club would lead to the imposition of full stadium closures and a €50,000 fine.
