Antonio Di Natale to leave Udinese after 12 years with Serie A club

Udinese forward Antonio Di Natale has announced he will be leaving the Serie A club in the summer, although he added that he is not sure he is going to retire just yet.

The 38-year-old has suffered an injury-hit season which has restricted him to just 22 Serie A appearances, in which he has scored just one goal.

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, the former Italy international stated his desire to play one last time for Udinese before leaving when his contract expires this summer, and probably continuing his career elsewhere.

"I want to be fit for the Carpi game so I can celebrate with the fans and play my last game at Udine," Di Natale said.

When asked if it would also be the last game of his career, Di Natale first joked he would "have to ask [Roma's 39-year-old captain Francesco] Totti," before saying he feels fit enough to continue playing next term.

"I'm old but I still feel good," he said. "Right now we're just thinking about the Torino game and I hope we play a great game and celebrate staying up. Then we'll see after the Carpi game.

"If I do leave, I will leave with my head held high. I'm proud of what I've done and I must thank this club. I've been here for 12 beautiful years and I'd like to thank the club, my teammates and the fans for this."

Di Natale has scored 208 Serie A goals -- 190 for Udinese and 18 for Empoli, who are regarded as a likely destination for the Naples-born forward next season.
