United States hit New Zealand for six as Italy hold on to beat France

United States breezed into the Under-20 World Cup quarterfinals with a 6-0 demolition of New Zealand in Incheon.

Josh Sargent scored his fourth goal of the tournament when he deflected in an effort from Justen Glad, and Jeremy Ebobisse doubled the advantage after the break with a fierce strike.

Brooks Lennon, Glad, Auston Trusty and Lagos Kunga completed the half-dozen and the the U.S. will now play a Venezuela side that has yet to concede a goal.

Italy defeated France 2-1 to reach the last eight and partially avenge defeat to the same opponents in the 2016 Under-19 European Championship.

Riccardo Orsolini volleyed home to put Italy in front, but France levelled when Amine Harit was brought down in the area and Jean-Kevin Augustin struck from the spot.

Giuseppe Panico scored what turned out to be the winner, although only a fine save by Andrea Zaccagno denied Augustin a second equaliser. Italy now play Zambia on Monday.

A last-minute goal by substitute Ronaldo Cisneros saw Mexico past Senegal 1-0 and into a quarterfinal against England on Monday.
