Kevin Grosskreutz will have to wait until January to make his move to Galatasaray official.

Borussia Dortmund have confirmed midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz is heading to Galatasaray immediately even though he will not be able to play competitive football for his new club until the next transfer window in January.

The planned transfer fell through when the necessary paperwork was not delivered in time for Monday's deadline. FIFA declined to approve a request for an exemption.

Kevin Grosskreutz to join Galatasaray once FIFA approves transfer

Kevin Grosskreutz is set to move to Galatasaray once his paperwork clears.

Borussia Dortmund midfielder Kevin Grosskreutz will join Galatasaray in a €6.6 million deal once his transfer is ratified by FIFA, the Turkish club have announced.

Grosskreutz, 27, saw delays with his paperwork hold up a deal as the papers were late in reaching the Turkish football federation through FIFA's TMS system by Monday's deadline.

However, Galatasaray have announced that the midfielder has signed, pending final approval.
