Liverpool won't recall Karius despite Besiktas coach's comments - sources

Liverpool remain committed to Loris Karius' two-season loan deal with Besiktas, sources have told ESPN FC, but remain in constant contact with the goalkeeper amid claims by the Turkish club's coach Senol Gunes that "something is wrong" with the 25-year-old.

The former Mainz goalkeeper was loaned out by Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp at the start of the season following the £65 million signing of Brazil No. 1 Alisson from Roma.

Liverpool's Loris Karius not set for early return, Besiktas 'happy' with him - sources

Shaka Hislop predicts the gap between Liverpool and Manchester City will be smaller this year, but the Reds will remain second best.

Besiktas are happy with on-loan goalkeeper Loris Karius and are not looking to send him back to Liverpool, sources have told ESPN.

Turkish sports outlet Fotomac reported that Besiktas have been unimpressed by Karius and are keen to cut his two-year loan deal short in January -- adding that they would request Divock Origi in exchange, on the same agreement with an option to buy.

This claim came on the back of reports from the same outlet that Karius would be dropped for the Europa League...

Asamoah Gyan recalled to Ghana squad for Afcon qualifiers

Ghana's record goalscorer Asamoah Gyan will return to international duty for the Black Stars in their 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Sierra Leone, but there are no places in the squad for the Ayew brothers.

Gyan is part of a 23-man squad released by Ghana boss Kwesi Appiah for the mid-October games, despite a season spent largely on the bench at Turkish side Kayserispor. He has played just 35 minutes of club football this season but is one of four forwards named in the side....

Jurgen Klopp wanted me to stay at Liverpool - Loris Karius

Loris Karius says he had to convince Jurgen Klopp to let him join Besiktas as the Liverpool manager was keen on keeping him at Anfield for the season.

Karius was unveiled as a Besiktas player on Wednesday, having joined the Turkish side on a two-year loan deal that could become permanent if certain performance criteria are met.

He had lost his place as Liverpool's No. 1 following the arrival of Alisson, with the German keen on securing game time after his nightmare performance in the Champions League...

Besiktas refuse to finish Turkish Cup semi vs. Fenerbahce after crowd trouble

Besiktas have refused to play the rescheduled final 33 minutes of their Turkish Cup semifinal against Fenerbahce.

The Istanbul rivals, who drew 2-2 in March's first leg, were unable to finish the return fixture at Fenerbahce's Sukru Saracoglu stadium on April 19 as trouble in the stands spread to the benches and the tunnel.

Besiktas coach Senol Gunes was struck on the head by an object thrown from the crowd and the game was called off by the referee in the 57th minute, with the second-leg scoreline...
