Tottenham ready to take revenge on Arsenal in Carabao Cup - Hugo Lloris

Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris has said his team's Premier League derby defeat at Arsenal has given them extra motivation as they prepare to return to the Emirates for Wednesday's Carabao Cup quarterfinal (2:45 p.m. ET, ESPN+).

Spurs lost 4-2 to the Gunners earlier this month -- their only defeat in the last 11 matches -- but have an early chance for revenge as they target a first trophy since 2008.

"Maybe the good thing is, because we lost the Premier League game a few weeks ago, it's even a little bit more motivation for us," Lloris said.

"There's no more bad feeling than when you get a defeat. You always try to analyse and make things we will not repeat again. It's another opportunity, and we will do our best to go through.

"Every game that you lose it hurts, but especially when you lead 2-1 and you lose 4-2. It's true that Arsenal are playing very well this season, and they're a difficult team to beat, but I think we have the quality to do it.

"It's important to take every game seriously, whatever the competition is. Of course there's priority in the season, but it's a League Cup game and if you go through there's a semifinal and there's a good chance.

"And it's a derby, it's Arsenal, so it's easier to prepare because there's always excitement and enjoyment to play that type of game."

Tottenham have won all three of their Premier League matches since the Arsenal defeat to consolidate their place in the top four.

Christian Eriksen's injury-time winner against Burnley on Saturday put them five points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal, who lost at Southampton on Sunday.

"It was a tricky game for us, especially after Barcelona [in the Champions League in midweek]," Lloris said. "You have a bit less energy and you play with a bit less intensity.

"The opponent tried to defend as long as they could. I think we made a good performance -- not fantastic, but really professional.

"Of course we would have preferred to score earlier in the game, but winning it in that way is a boost to the confidence."
