Tottenham Hotspur have appointed Wayne Burnett as the new head coach of their under-23s, succeeding the late Ugo Ehiogu, who died in April following a cardiac arrest.
Burnett's last managerial role was in charge of then-League Two club Dagenham & Redbridge, where he spent two-and-a-half years from February 2013 to December 2015. He has been working as the Football Association's national coach developer for the past year.
The 45-year-old former Huddersfield and Grimsby midfielder has previously managed Dulwich Hamlet, Grays and Fisher Athletic (twice), and spent a spell as a youth team coach at Leyton Orient.
"Wayne brings experience and a fantastic set of attributes to the academy," Tottenham's head of coaching and player development, John McDermott, said.
"He's a former player, league manager and youth coach at a variety of levels, most latterly as a coach with the Football Association.
"I'm sure he will enhance our existing coaching programme and contribute hugely to the continuation of players graduating through the latter stage of their academy life into senior professional football."
Spurs also announced that Perry Suckling will return to the club as academy coach and academy goalkeeping coach, having left to run Queens Park Rangers' academy in 2015.
"Perry brings vast experience and knowledge of youth football that can only help the players and staff around him," McDermott added. "He was fundamental in bringing a lot of successful graduates through the academy here. He knows what 'good' looks like."
Meanwhile, according to reports Spurs are in talks with former England international Scott Parker, who spent two seasons with the club until 2013, about a role within the academy.
Parker retired from football this week after a spell with Fulham and has been taking his coaching badges.
