The demolition of White Hart Lane will begin the day after Tottenham Hotspur's final match at the stadium against Manchester United on Sunday and is expected to take three months, the club have confirmed.
Tottenham host United this weekend in the last ever fixture at the 118-year-old ground, which first opened in 1899, and are looking to finish the 2016-17 season unbeaten at home.
In a meeting with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters' Trust (THST), chairman Daniel Levy said the keys to White Hart Lane would be handed to the firm building the club's new 61,500-seater stadium on Monday, and demolition work will begin that day.
Spurs will play all of next season's home fixtures at Wembley and hope their new stadium will be ready for the start of the 2018-19 campaign, although Levy said that there is a deal in place to play an additional season at the national stadium if the building work overruns.
The club could also ask the Premier League to play the first two fixtures of the 2018-19 season -- which will start later than usual due to the 2018 World Cup in Russia -- to be played away from home and attempt to strike deals with other clubs to swap fixtures, as Liverpool did at the start of this season. Liverpool began with four straight away fixtures and did not play at the redeveloped Anfield until Sept. 10.
Levy, however, said that there was a risk of spending two seasons at Wembley, where Tottenham struggled in Europe this term, and said the firm building their new stadium would not be held responsible for any overruns, given the complexity of the project.
An indicator that the building work remains on schedule will be the addition of the new stadium's roof in January or February next year, Levy added.
The chairman also confirmed that the club had received a "small capital contribution" from the NFL towards the tailoring of the new stadium.
Last month, sources told ESPN FC that the NFL had contributed £10 million towards additional changing rooms, media facilities and the retractable pitch after Tottenham agreed a 10-year deal to host at least two NFL games a year at their new home.
Meanwhile, Tottenham have unveiled a commemorative shirt which they will wear against United.
The white-and-blue shirt displays the fixture and the club's special edition White Hart Lane crest underneath the collar on the back, while the Tottenham Tribute Trust's (TTT) logo will appear on the front.

The shirts will be auctioned off after the match, with the proceeds -- along with funds raised from several sources including the sale of memorabilia from the game -- going to the TTT, formed in 2002 to help former Spurs players facing difficult times.
