Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino: I can't confirm if Kyle Walker is happy

LONDON -- Mauricio Pochettino declined to say whether defender Kyle Walker was happy at Tottenham Hotspur as he stressed that all talks about the future of players were on hold until the end of the season.

Walker has reportedly decided that his future lies away from Tottenham, with the 26-year-old having been linked with Manchester City.

The right-back was left on the bench for both the FA Cup semifinal defeat to Chelsea and Sunday's North London derby win over Arsenal but did start at Crystal Palace in between.

Pochettino confirmed that Walker was in the 21-man squad for Friday's game at West Ham and said all his players were focused on reducing the gap to Chelsea to a point before the league leaders play Middlesbrough on Monday.

Asked at a news conference whether Walker was happy, he said: "I cannot confirm this, it's rumours. If I speak about all the rumours it's a two-hour press conference.

"All the 21 players are focusing on trying to help the team achieve the thing we are fighting for.

"We will decide which players will leave and which stay and who we sign."

Sources have told ESPN FC that Walker's understudy Kieran Trippier is set to sign a new contract, but Pochettino said nothing would be talked about until after the final Premier League match at Hull City on May 21.

"He [Trippier] still has three years," Pochettino said. "The day after Hull we can speak about what will happen at the club next season.

"There's no point today speaking about things that can only affect the team in a negative way. There are no decisions until the end of the season about anything."

Pochettino also said he would seek talks with West Ham counterpart Slaven Bilic about the difficulties of adapting to a new stadium.

The Hammers' home form has gone from the seventh best in the Premier League last season to the fifth worst since their move from the Boleyn Ground to the London Stadium in the summer.

Spurs could encounter similar teething problems after confirming they will spend next season at Wembley while White Hart Lane is demolished and the club's new stadium is finished.

"It is a great opportunity to listen to him," Pochettino said. "Always it's important to listen, to be open to learn. He maybe can advise us in different things.

"We can say that when you move things are always different and you need to adapt to different things. We are aware the next season will be very important to us, we need to be ready for everything."

Pochettino will again be without Danny Rose against West Ham but hopes the left-back will return to full training next week after more than three months out with a knee injury.
