Talented Tottenham have 'goals all over the park' - Kieran Trippier

LONDON -- Kieran Trippier heralded Tottenham's firepower after Saturday's 4-0 demolition of Watford at White Hart Lane and revealed the secret to his impressive form: crossing early.

Harry Kane returned to Spurs' squad after a month injured but Spurs had already scored four times through Dele Alli, Eric Dier and a Son Heung-Min double when the striker came off the bench on the hour.

Alli's wonderful opener moved him to 19 goals for the season, while Son has 18 and Christian Eriksen is also in double figures.

Dier's goal was his second in three games -- typifying the way Spurs' squad has stepped up without top-scorer Kane -- and Trippier said: "Everybody's chipping in. Obviously it's good to have Harry back -- I'd like to say that -- but Sonny's done well and Vincent [Janssen] too, when he's come in. But there's goals everywhere in our team and it's great to have.

"You see the quality throughout the team, and even the players that are not on the bench and not in the squad. We've got a quality team here and when [Kane] is not playing we've got a lot of lads who still score a lot of goals. You see Sonny's in double figures now, Dele's scored a goal, there's Christian. There's goals all over the park for us."

Despite the quality of all four of Tottenham's goals, Trippier was named man of the match after a super performance from right-back.

The 26-year-old assisted the fourth goal for Son with a pinpoint cross and created gilt-edged chances for the South Korean, Kane and Janssen, who somehow spooned his first-time cross onto the bar from three yards.

Trippier is understudy to Kyle Walker, but he has three assists in as many league starts this season and he explained that his teammates love it when he crosses the ball quickly.

"As soon as you get the ball and you see two or three players in the box, why wait? You've got a great opportunity to get a goal so I don't try to do something, try to beat a man, when I can just get the ball in early. That's what strikers love," said the former Manchester City and Burnley player.

"I speak to [Kane] and the other strikers and as soon as I get the ball they know what's going to happen. I get the ball in dangerous areas and try to create as many goals as I can.

"Since I was at City when I was younger I've practised [crossing] a lot. That's one of my main attributes and I try to do my best and get into those positions where I can feed them into the strikers and try to create as many goals as I can. I've done that since I was a young boy.

"You always have to practise. We do it in training, I do it in my own time with Christian or a few of the other boys. We do set pieces. I just work on different areas of my game."

While Trippier has found starts hard to come by at Tottenham, he always impresses against Watford. Last season, he set up Son's winner at Vicarage Road before scoring the only goal at White Hart Lane, and he bagged two assists for Kane in the 4-1 win on New Year's Day.

"It's just whenever the manager says I'm playing, funnily enough it's Watford! I don't get much game time but I keep trying to work hard on the training field because Walks has done well for club and country so I've got a difficult man in front of me. But when I get my opportunities I try to take them, try to do my best for myself and my teammates," he said.

"Every chance I get the opportunity to play I love the atmosphere, especially here with the fans. It's just important that I get the minutes under my belt and try to play as many games as I can. But there's a really good feel about the club at the moment."

As well as the man of the match champagne, Trippier bagged the shirt of Watford goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes, formerly of Spurs.

"We're next-door neighbours. I said to him 'can I have your shirt?'. I get on really well with him," he said.

"I'll knock on his door and ask to borrow some milk or something and he'll probably just slam the door in my face. No, if I see him we'll have a good chat about the game and about different things."

"We have a bit of banter but he's a top guy, he was a great player here and we get on really well."
