LONDON -- Harry Kane's new Tottenham contract will be a boost for the whole club, according to manager Mauricio Pochettino.
Kane agreed a new deal until 2022 on Thursday, his second long-term contract this year, which will end speculation linking the England striker away from White Hart Lane -- at least temporarily.
The news comes after a difficult two months for Spurs, who have won one in their last 10 matches and crashed out of the Champions League last week.
"The news about Harry Kane is very good for the dressing room and all the fans and club, and for him. With Kane, you know how he feels about Tottenham. It is fantastic news for all," Pochettino told a news conference on Thursday.
"We feel very happy all because one more time he is showing commitment to club and the project and that's great for us."

Pochettino denied that Kane, who has scored three goals in as many league appearances since returning from a seven-week injury layoff, had been distracted by the speculation but said it was important for the striker to now focus on continuing to improve.
"It's fantastic for the player," he said. "Always it's important for them to be calm in their mind, focused on playing and improving every day. When they are involved in negotiations like these it always can affect, not him in his performance, but now the deal is done it's important to focus on the future in training, to improve and try to score goals as he needs to do.
"Always he is important. Harry Kane, after two-and-a-half years for myself he has been an important player, I show you he always was involved in my plans. It's very important for the future of the club, not only for my plans, but also Tottenham's plans for the future."
Kane's new contract could reportedly make him the club's highest earner if he meets certain targets and make him the first Tottenham player to be paid over £100,000-a-week.
Asked if Kane was now the club's best-paid player, Pochettino said: "I don't know because I was not involved in negotiations -- that is [chairman] Daniel Levy who decides the amount with the agent of the player. I am never involved in those negotiations.
"Was interest from other clubs? No. I don't know. The same I told you before. I was not involved in talks, if the club has some interest from another club it's something for the chairman to manage not me."
Kane is the ninth Spurs player to sign a new contract this season and, as usual, Pochettino posed with his arm around the shoulder of the England striker.
Asked about the pose, Pochettino replied: "It's an ongoing joke, we laugh a lot about that. It was a funny moment but when with your first player you make that, after you cannot change because they become jealous and ask: 'Why you change the way to approach me in the picture?' [What I wear] depends on the mood, the week -- I don't know. Many reasons to decide with suit or tracksuit."
