Tottenham Hotspur's Son Heung-Min has been suffering from ankle injury

Tottenham Hotspur forward Son Heung-Min has said that he has been struggling with an ankle injury since last month.

Son was named as Premier League player of the month for September after scoring braces against Stoke and Middlesbrough, before impressing as the lone striker, and recording an assist, in Spurs' 2-0 win over Manchester City on Oct. 2.

But since playing in Seoul and Tehran during the last international break, the South Korea international has failed to score or assist in six appearances, as Spurs have found goals hard to come by.

"It's true that I've struggled after winning the award because of an ankle injury," Son told Reuters before South Korea training at Seoul World Cup Stadium on Tuesday.

"But it's not just me; the whole team is having a difficult time. With the national team, your strong mindset matters more than your form. I came here to win."

South Korea host Canada in a friendly in Cheonan on Friday before facing Uzbekistan in a World Cup qualifier in Seoul four days later, knowing that a victory will move them above the Uzbeks in the standings.

"We know the importance of the match [against Uzbekistan]," said Son, who has scored 17 goals in 51 matches for his country.

"Uzbekistan are a good team and that's why they are in the second place. There are no easy opponents in the final round, so we'll have a difficult game against Uzbekistan. We know we can take better position with a win, so we will prepare thoroughly."
