Toby Alderweireld scan shows no lasting damage to defender's knee

LEVERKUSEN -- Mauricio Pochettino says Toby Alderweireld's scan has revealed no injury but the Tottenham manager was cautious about the defender's chances of playing at Bournemouth on Saturday.

Alderweireld was stretchered off in 1-1 draw at West Brom at the weekend and he had a scan on his right leg on Monday.

He missed Tuesday's 0-0 draw at Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League, along with Harry Kane, who has returned to light training, and the rested Kyle Walker.

Asked about the possibility of Kane and Alderweireld featuring in the Premier League match at Dean Court, Pochettino said: "It's impossible [for Harry] -- one thing is to run on the grass, another thing is to train with the group, be fit and available to compete.

"He's working and running on the pitch, that's very important for us. Toby Alderweireld will be difficult because it's very painful but his reaction is good.

"The scan yesterday shows he avoided the problems, we don't detect any injuries. It was clear.

"We need to wait -- it was a very heavy knock and we need to see how he reacts, so it'll be difficult for the weekend."

Mousa Dembele continued his recovery from injury with 25 minutes from the bench in Germany.
