Tottenham win perfect response to Champions League setback - Dele Alli

Dele Alli believes Tottenham's dominant performance was the perfect response to their midweek Champions League defeat as they eventually overcame Sunderland 1-0 at White Hart Lane.

Despite having 31 shots in the match, Spurs had only Harry Kane's goal following Papy Djilobodji's error to show for their efforts.

The result pushes Spurs into third in the Premier League table while David Moyes is still searching for his first league win as Black Cats boss as his side languish second-bottom, with only Stoke below them on goal difference.

Alli told Sky Sports: "You always look to try to bounce back after defeat and it was tough to take.

"It was a great performance by the boys. We should have seen the game off earlier, I felt we dominated from the start.

"We were dominating the game and we felt comfortable and felt like we needed to keep being patient and moving the ball quicker and knew the chance would come.

"There's a great bunch of boys here and everyone gets on really well and it shows on the pitch."

Man of the match Son Heung-Min echoed his teammate's words and was delighted with the result that preserved Spurs' unbeaten start to the season.

He said: "We played very well and I think we deserved the three points. Today was a great feeling, I was very happy and we got three points."
