Tottenham's Ryan Mason hopes to impress Pochettino next season

Ryan Mason says he has no thoughts of leaving Tottenham Hotspur this summer, despite speculation linking with him a move away from White Hart Lane.

Mason, 24, slipped behind Dele Alli, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele in the Spurs pecking order last season, making just eight league starts in an injury-hit campaign.

Bournemouth and Crystal Palace have been mentioned as possible destinations for the midfielder but Mason is determined to win back his place at his boyhood club.

"I'm a Tottenham player and am determined to go back into preseason as fit as possible with the aim of impressing the gaffer to try and establish myself in the team," he told Sky Sports.

"I think it'll probably be a clean slate in preseason and everything is to play for with this manager.

"You train your way into the team and how you perform in preseason determines the team for the first game of the season so hopefully I can make sure I'm part of that and cement my place."

Mason has represented England at every level from under-16s and made his debut for the senior side in a 1-1 draw in Italy last year, but missed out on a place in Roy Hodgson's Euro 2016 squad.

The 23-man group does include five of his Spurs teammates and Mason sees no reasons why the Three Lions can't win the tournament in France.

"There's no limit on what they can achieve," Mason added. "They've got some very positive results in recent friendlies against top nations. There's no reason they can't win it.

"They've got to go out there and play with belief and not fear anyone and focus on themselves and you never know what can happen.

"Getting to a semi [final] or the quarters would be a great achievement but we are a massive nation with the ability and the players to go on and win it, and hopefully we can do that. I'm sure they're confident and I'm optimistic."
