Tottenham U21s inspired by seniors in win over Sunderland - Ehiogu

Tottenham Hotspur under-21s coach Ugo Ehiogu says his players took inspiration from Spurs head coach Mauricio Pochettino in Monday's 3-1 win over Sunderland.

Shayon Harrison scored a hat trick as Spurs' youngsters beat the title-chasing Black Cats at White Hart Lane to guarantee their place in the U21 Premier League for next season.

Harrison, 18, tapped in for 1-0, scored a fine header to double Spurs' lead and sealed the points with a precise drive after Rees Greenwood had halved the deficit. Ehiogu said the players were inspired by the first team's 3-0 win over Manchester United on Sunday.

"The really pleasing thing was the spirit today, he told SpursTV. "We didn't have to motivate them much.

"We showed them the game and some of the manager's comments from our first team game yesterday. It was about fight, about believing, about intensity -- and the boys had that."

Earlier this year, Pochettino named Harrison and fellow teenage forward Kazaiah Sterling as players who could step up to the first team if the near future.

"We have enough quality and we have younger players in our academy with a lot of potential like Shayon and Kazaiah Sterling," Pochettino told a news conference in January. "I can give a lot of names that are very young, hungry and can help us to achieve everything."
