Tottenham have confirmed Jan Vertonghen has suffered damage to his knee ligament but the club did not say how long the defender is likely to be sidelined for.
Vertonghen, 28, suffered the injury when he fell to the ground after appearing to take an elbow to the face from Crystal Palace's Connor Wickham during Spurs' 3-1 win at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Wickham, 22, has since been charged by the Football Association for the incident and faces a three-match ban.
Tottenham confirmed the news on Vertonghen via their official Twitter account on Tuesday.
