Tottenham winger Erik Lamela has told ESPN FC he finally feels that he has adapted to playing in the Premier League.
Lamela, 23, is starting to show his best form for Tottenham with four goals in 10 games this campaign after two difficult seasons following his club-record £30 million arrival from Roma in 2013.
The Argentina international -- who misses Sunday's London derby against West Ham through suspension -- was strongly linked with a move away during the last two summers after failing to hit the heights expected of him, but Lamela insists the arrival of fellow Argentine, manager Mauricio Pochettino, at White Hart Lane has been a positive influence on him.
"In some ways it has helped [having Pochettino as manager], but I have also learned a lot from Andre Villas-Boas and Tim Sherwood," Lamela told ESPN FC. "A player always learns from each coach along his career.
"I feel much more confident. I am adapted, but English football isn't easy there is always something new that appears.
"The Premier League is a very competitive championship, probably the most competitive one in the world."
Lamela has established himself as a key member of the Tottenham side, with Pochettino's men sitting in fifth spot in the Premier League and unbeaten since the opening day of the season.
However, if he does choose to leave England when the three years left on his deal expire, then the Argentine insists he has unfinished business at former club River Plate after they were relegated just before his departure to Italy in 2011.
"I feel that it's something that I owe to myself [to return to River Plate]. I left River after the team had fallen down to Serie B," said Lamela.
"I have something that hasn't finished in my history with River. I owe to them who I am and I owe to myself to play there once I finish my European experience.
"I am under contract at Spurs until June 2018 so I see it as difficult to go back to Argentina before that time."
