Ryan Mason believes Tottenham will keep lead against Everton

Ryan Mason believes Tottenham will be better equipped to keep the lead should Spurs go in front against Everton on Saturday.

The White Hart Lane side allowed a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Leicester over the weekend, with the result coming on the heels of the opening weekend's 2-2 draw with Stoke City in which Spurs let a two-goal advantage slip with just 15 minutes to play.

Speaking to the club's website on Wednesday, the 24-year-old midfielder said he doesn't see the late-goals trend continuing as the season rolls on.

"You can't say we're not scoring goals because in our last home game against Stoke we got two and then at Leicester we scored again," Mason said.

"It's just about being a bit stronger when we take the lead and seeing out games.

"Obviously we got a goal late on [against Leicester], but then to concede so quickly is disappointing and something we'll look to improve on next time."

And with Everton on the horizon, the England international is confident Tottenham will get the job done.

"We're confident ahead of Everton now. Although we've let two leads slip in the last two games, we firmly believe that if we take the lead we'll keep it next Saturday."
