Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino could bring in another striker

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has said he could bring in another striker before the start of the Premier League season at the weekend.

Spurs, who face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday, are poised to lose Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado to Aston Villa and Villarreal.

That would mean Harry Kane, last season's top scorer, would be the only senior striker available to Pochettino.

The former Southampton boss told reporters after his side's 2-0 defeat to Real Madrid in the preseason Audi Cup in Munich: "It is true we have Harry and maybe we need to bring another striker in.

"But I am not worried about Harry. He came back after the Euros [European Under-21 Championships in the Czech Republic] late in his preparations but I am not worried.

"He is ready to compete on Saturday against Manchester United."

Earlier this week, Kane said he hoped to build on an impressive campaign that saw him score 31 goals in 51 appearances for the north Londoners.

The 22-year-old also earned senior England recognition, scoring on his debut against Lithuania, and aims to prove he was no one-season wonder.

Kane told CNN World Sport: "I can take a lot of confidence into this year, knowing that I can do it against the big teams and anyone in the Premier League.

"So I've got to try and keep working hard and keep trying to improve, and take that into the games and hopefully keep scoring.''
