Tottenham want to qualify for Europa League - Mauricio Pochettino

Mauricio Pochettino has said Tottenham Hotspur remain determined to qualify for the Europa League.

Tottenham suffered a second straight loss at the weekend, losing 3-0 at Stoke to leave them sixth -- enough for Europa League qualification -- in the Premier league table and a point above Southampton.

Spurs competed in the Europa League this season but on occasion struggled to cope with the exertions of playing in Europe on a Thursday then returning to domestic action a few days later.

Speaking after the defeat at Stoke, Pochettino said: "I think it is good for the club to achieve the Europa League and this is what we are going to try.

"It is difficult now, but we need to do the last two weeks and to try to win the first game on Saturday with Hull City."

Spurs striker Harry Kane, who has scored 20 top-flight goals and six in the Europa League this season. echoed his manager's words.

He said: "The Europa League is another chance to win a trophy, which is something we have made it clear that we want to do.

"We will try and win the last two matches to qualify. We will be taking that competition seriously.

"If you want to go and win the Champions League you have to play a lot of games. Europa League is no different. It will give us a bit more experience in Europe and help us push on to the Champions League. Everyone wants to be involved."
