Harry Kane flattered by Jurgen Klinsmann comparisons

Harry Kane has revealed that he would like to follow in the footsteps of Tottenham Hotspur scoring great Jurgen Klinsmann, after he committed himself to the north London club by signing a lengthy new contract.

Kane's five-and-a-half year contract to stay at Spurs was one of the stand-out deals of Monday's transfer deadline day, with the striker who has scored 20 goals in all competitions reveling in his rapid rise up the Premier League pecking order in recent months.

Some have compared Kane's playing style to that of former Tottenham striker and current USMNT coach Jurgen Klinsmann, who was a huge favourite of the White Hart Lane faithful during two spells at the club.

"To be compared to a player like that is something I'm very happy with," Kane told Sky Sports. "He was a top player who scored a lot of goals for club and country, so if I can score the amount of goals he did I'm sure I'll have a fine career.

"Any good striker would be happy with the goals I've scored and hopefully the run continues. I don't want it to end here. It's been great so far but there's still plenty of time left. I hope I can carry on to the end and score a few more goals."

Kane is relishing the prospect of this Saturday's north London derby against Arsenal, with his lifelong allegiances to Tottenham meaning his eagerness to win this particular fixture is a little more pronounced than most.

"Doing that against a top team showed we're a great side, and I know what London derbies are about," he added. "I've been a fan so I know what [to] expect and how they're feeling on the day of these games."
