Tottenham captain Younes Kaboul confident he is over injury problems

Tottenham captain Younes Kaboul insists his injury problems are a thing of the past.

Kaboul, 28, has struggled with fitness issues in recent years and made just 12 Premier League starts for Spurs in the previous two campaigns.

However, the defender has been a regular fixture in Mauricio Pochettino's team this term, and he feels that is down to having had a proper preseason under his belt.

"My injuries are finished, look at me on the pitch," Kaboul told The Times. "If you have a full preseason of nearly two months, you should be fine. You always can have these little injuries, but physically you feel much better."

Tottenham next face Manchester City after the international break, with Manuel Pellegrini's side having scored 11 goals in the two league meetings between the teams last season.

Kaboul, however, is confident Spurs will fare better this time around as a result of the defensive work Pochettino has been putting in place on the training pitch.

"We have applied this already during the games and I feel we're solid and well organised and just have to carry on and concentrate like against Arsenal, but City are more of a threat in front of goal," he said.

"They've got a lot of players attacking and they are ready for the fight. What happened last season against them was last season. In football the most important thing is the present and we look at the future."

Kaboul was appointed Spurs captain by Pochettino and he was a ball boy when the Argentine scored for Paris Saint-Germain against Auxerre in the 2001-02 season.

"It was the first game of Ronaldinho at PSG, I remember it like it was yesterday and now he is my manager," Kaboul said. "We have spoken about it and he remembered this goal.

"Mauricio was a very classy defender. We have learned a lot from him because he has got experience at this level and we try to put in the game everything he has taught us."
