Tottenham close in on Croatian duo

Tottenham will complete the signing of Dinamo Zagreb duo Tin Jedvaj and Alen Halilovic according to the club’s president Mirko Barisic.

Sixteen-year-old midfielder Alen 'The New Modric' Halilovic
Alen Halilovic made his Croatia debut in June 2013 against Portugal

Barisic is reported in the Croatian press as saying that the deal to take the two 17-year-olds is “all agreed”, although reports suggest they will stay with the Croatian champions on loan in order to continue their development.

Jedvaj, a defender and Croatia Under-19 international was the subject of a failed £5 million bid from Roma last week while attacking midfielder Halilovic, a full international who has played in the Champions League, is said to have been watched by Real Madrid and Arsenal.

And Barisic believes he is capable of becoming a bigger talent than former Spurs midfielder Luka Modric.

He said: "A lot of people have compared him to Luka Modric, but he’s better than Luka was at this age.

"Everyone at the club thinks he has even more potential and that he will become one of the best players in the world."
