Tigres striker Andre-Pierre Gignac has denied hitting a Mexican journalist who has called him "a bad loser." Gignac reportedly could face a sanction from the Mexican Football Association having refused to take part in the ceremony to collect his runners-up medal after Tigres had failed to overcome Chivas in the second leg of their Clausura Championship final tie on Sunday. After the final whistle, Televisa journalist Yussif Caro claimed Gignac had hit him pitchside, and then called the France international forward "a bad loser" in a tweet. Gignac responded via his Twitter account: "If I had hit you, you would still be on the ground. What do you want? To trick people? Do you want to be famous? More followers on Twitter? "Can't you understand the sadness and anger of a player after they have lost a final? I'm not perfect and have a lot of defects, and if I have to leave Mexico because of the press, I will leave...I'm sick of listening to lies." Gignac, 31, had scored both his team's goals in the 2-2 first-leg draw in Monterrey, but was powerless to prevent Tigres, who were the reigning champions, slipping to a 2-1 defeat in Guadalajara as Chivas claimed the title.
