Toshiya Miura sacked by Vietnam after AFC U23 Championships

Toshiya Miura was dismissed by the Vietnam Football Federation on Thursday.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) executive board got together on Thursday to cast their votes on the coach's future.

Miura, 52, coached Vissel Kobe, Omiya Ardija and Ventforet Kofu in the J-League before moving to Southeast Asia in 2014 to take charge of the Vietnam national team.

Australia kept their hopes alive as Vietnam's were extinguished in the second Group D matches at the AFC Under-23 Championship in Doha.

After the Olyroos defeated Vietnam 2-0, United Arab Emirates and Jordan drew 0-0 on Sunday night to put the West Asian nations in pole position to advance to the knockout stages.

Incheon United's new Vietnamese midfield star Luong Xuan Truong has told the South Korean media that he is taking inspiration from Park Ji-sung ahead of the K-League season that kicks off in March.

North Korea, Qatar win to stay in first place in World Cup qualifying groups

North Korea, Qatar, Thailand and Jordan all won on Tuesday to maintain their group leads in the second round of Asian qualifying for the World Cup.

Jong Il Gwan's 12th-minute penalty gave North Korea a 1-0 win over Yemen in Group H.

The North Koreans opened a four-point lead over Uzbekistan, who have a game in hand.
