Brazil defeat Nigeria while Germany rout Fiji at Under-20 World Cup

Juivan's two goals got Brazil off to a flying start at the Under-20 World Cup.

Striker Judivan scored twice as Brazil beat Nigeria 4-2 on Monday in a thrilling start to their FIFA Under-20 World Cup campaign.

The lead changed hands twice during the first half, and the teams went to halftime locked at 2-2 before Judivan clinched the match with his second goal eight minutes from fulltime thanks to a rare Nigerian defensive blunder.

The clash was forecast to be one of the best of the group rounds and lived up to that billing as the teams went blow for blow. There were flowing...

Netherlands shut out Spain while England, Italy draw in friendlies

Andros Townsend equalises late for England as they play out a 1-1 draw with Italy in Turin.
ESPN FC's Steve Nicol explains that if Raheem Sterling can make all the money in the world if he continues to improve, following reports that he's rejected a new deal with Liverpool.

Netherlands scored twice in a four-minute span and shut out Spain 2-0 on Tuesday in a friendly in Amsterdam.

Stefan de Vrij's header opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Davy Klaassen doubled the advantage in the 16th.

Klaassen found himself free to shoot in the middle of the 18-yard box, and though his initial shot was saved by David De Gea, he fired the rebound into the back of the net.

A wave of second-half Spain reinforcements included David Silva, Alvaro Morata and Andres Iniesta, but...

Shinji Okazaki and Keisuke Honda scored second-half goals as Japan beat Tunisia 2-0 on Friday in their first game under new coach Vahid Halilhodzic.

Halilhodzic brought Honda and Okazaki into the game early in the second half, and the moves paid off.

Okazaki scored on a header off a Honda cross in the 78th minute, and Honda doubled the advantage five minutes later when he picked up a loose ball and fired past goalkeeper Moez Ben Cherifia from close range.

Halilhodzic, who guided Algeria to the last...

Brazil will face the African champions, North Korea and Hungary in Group E after the draw in Auckland on Tuesday, which saw the United States pooled in Group A against hosts New Zealand, Ukraine and first-time qualifier Myanmar.

Stielike blames intense pressure for South Korea's poor first half showing

South Korea coach Uli Stielike will be hoping to get another win when his team take on either Iran or Iraq in the semifinals.

South Korea reached the Asian Cup semifinals after Son Heung-min scored two goals in extra time in a tough 2-0 win over Uzbekistan.

Kim Jin-su's long centering pass from just outside the area was deflected by the Uzbekistan defense and into the path of Son, who headed the ball past diving goalkeeper Ignatiy Nesterov 16 minutes into extra time.

After more than 120 minutes of an intense match, substitute defender Cha Du-ri beat two Uzbek defenders as he dribbled the ball toward the area before passing...
